It’s no secret that we love grapefruit here at K2.0. A little bit sweet, a little bit sour, bright and zesty; grapefruit never disappoints. Cinco de Mayo is a great day for a margarita, but the sugary syrups (and the sugar alcohols in the “diet” varieties) aren’t our jam. Instead, we twist a great Paloma recipe to make it our own, and provide the right amount of heat to satisfy. Makes 2 servings, 1/2 cup each.
- 1/2C fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
- 1/2C Tequila
- juice of a fresh lime (about 2 Tablespoons)
- ground Chipotle pepper
- dash of hot sauce (We love Cooper’s Small Batch hot sauces. They are low in sodium and fantastic! Get the Gift Set to find the one you like!)
- splash of club soda
- grapefruit wedges for the rim.
Mix the juices, hot sauce and the tequila in a cocktail shaker with ice. Draw the grapefruit slice around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim in chipotle pepper powder. Fill the glass with ice, pour in the liquid from the shaker, top it off with club soda, and garnish with a wedge of grapefruit. SALUD!
