Dessert for Independence Day calls for something red, white and blue, of course! A very special friend gifted me these stemless wine glasses for my birthday, and they barely make it to the cupboard from the dishwasher, because they are used daily. Love them, love HER.
(Um … If I have to explain it to you … well … It starts with “Are you …”)
We started with zesting a lemon, We added that to 1C non-fat plain yogurt, and added the juice from the lemon as well. We drizzled it over fresh picked raspberries, blueberries and strawberries, and added some unsweetened coconut flakes to the top. Sweet and tart, almost fat-free. Neither original or creative, but delicious, and we’ll be looking forward to this all day.
Also, we’ve been trying to find a cocktail that doesn’t pack the carb load of a glass (or lately, 2 glasses) of wine, but is flavorful enough to satisfy. We wandered the aisles of Premier Gourmet this morning, and stumbled on this little gem:
We’re crazy about grapefruit over here. There is an interesting history about the Fee Brothers and the other types of products they make and distribute. You can read about them here.
Thinking of pairing these bitters with these two:
Unlike other flavored vodkas, (like Deep Eddy, which we loooooove,) Absolut flavored vodkas have no added sugars. We’re hoping that the bitters will add depth to our cocktail, without adding sugar.
We’ll let you know how it turns out! Have a wonderful Independence Day! What are YOUR favorite cocktails?
